Tip #1

Travelling by train in the UK can be fairly expensive. A great way to save money is by purchasing a Railcard. With this card, people aged 16 between 25 and eligible mature students enjoy 34% off most rail fares. The 16-25 Railcard costs £ 30 a year but pays for itself in just 2-3 train journeys.

Tip #2

A large amount of your student budget will be dedicated to food. Rightfully so because food is heaven! You can economize by cooking together with your (university) friends. Bonus: you’ll get to experience different tastes and cultures from around the world.

Tip #3

Us students can be lazy, right? We even take cabs for the smallest of distances! You would be surprised how much money you can save by replacing the cabs for walks. It’s not only good for your wallet but also your health. Double the win, if you ask me!

Of course, I know it’s not always possible to walk e.g. when you have to carry heavy groceries. In those cases, OLA is your cheapest option. Use the code below to get a discount on your first ride:

Tip #4

Staying on the topic of walking, the cheapest supermarkets are located outside Coventry’s city centre, such as Aldi and Lidl. They may be a little further to walk but they are worth it, believe me … Less money spent on groceries means more money for drinks!

Tip #5

Many brands offer special discounts for UK students, from Topshop, Adobe and Domino’s to Spotify. Check out the complete list here. Don’t be afraid to ask for discounts. Perhaps your favourite local store has a special programme for students as well.
